With the notable exception of Kingdom Hearts Coded (as Re:Coded for the DS - or only the story included in the PS3 compilation), the Dragon Quest 1/2/3 cell-phone versions being ported to iOS, Nippon Ichi porting a handful of their cell-phone RPGs to Vita, SNK porting 6 of their dating sims as a DS compilation, and someone reproducing the "Roll in Rockman" Japanese cell-phone entries as NES fan romhacks. They're totally original games not found anywhere else, and not inferior versions of other existing games (SD1 i-mode had additional content over the original). Since appreciation is one of the few things developers of emulators are going to receive for their work, there is little incentive for even starting to develop an N-Gage emulator.Ī good Symbian emulator might be a more worthwhile endeavor in the end. There are a few interesting games, such as Glimmerati and Elder Scrolls Travels: Shadowkey, but are those really worth the effort? Ideally I'd love to see an N-Gage emulator running on PSP, but let's be honest with ourselves: Most people have long forgotten this rather embarrassing chapter of Nokia's less glamorous years and wouldn't really care about an emulator. It was a poor compromise that didn't sell. However, questionable design decisions of the 1st generation hardware such as game cartridges underneath the battery, the awkward way to hold it during phone calls, poor buttons and the weirdly proportioned screen immediately made it obvious that it was merely a rather common Nokia phone with a strange body.
